Seasons of the River Mural
In 2021 I was commissioned by the City of Whitehorse to create a mural on the pump house that facilitates the children's splash park in Rotary Park, located right next to the Yukon River. Inspired by my own childhood growing up in Whitehorse, I wanted to give the park a mural that would be vibrant and happy, even in the winter. As you walk around the mural, you go from day to night, but also summer to winter. On the north side, the darkest and coldest part of painting the mural for me, it is night and the sky is filled with the northern lights, the moon and stars. On the south side, the hottest part of the mural, is the sun, of course. East and west sides show sunset and sunrise. The river winds around the building through the mountains and trees, as the trees go from green to orange, summer to fall, and even passes by a waterfall that feeds into it ice cold water.
